"The Big Payback" book excerpt
From book excerpt:
Miller met a college DJ at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, named Tobin Costen. The two young men hailed from different provinces of the Black American experience -- Miller from the slums of New Orleans and Richmond, Costen an army brat who had seen the world at a young age. But both played basketball and loved rap music, and they became fast friends. Costen took care to introduce Miller to his local network of DJs and promoters. When Costen graduated and moved down to the Bay Area, Miller offered him a job -- not at the No Limit store, but at his new No Limit label. Miller was quickly transitioning from retail to recording.
